In the early eighteenth century, the Jesuit priest Bartolomeu de Gusmão blew an engine that would be called «Passarola». Took flight in the Castle of São Jorge and landed in Paço da Ribeira.

Lisbon was the starting point for finding the world. In «Ribeira das Naus» (Arsenal Royal Navy) earned shape and height the Portuguese ships that led to new and different lands and people.

D. Afonso Henriques, the Conqueror

D. Afonso Henriques was the first king of Portugal. Brave and fearless he fought the Moors and regained the city of Lisbon in 1147.
In the fighting, men fought with swords and protected heads with hooves.
